Most small studios are "based in Europe, working anywhere" — which usually means based nowhere in particular, behind a laptop. We wanted something more concrete: to be genuinely local somewhere. It turned out to be two somewheres.
Two places we actually know
Local knowledge isn't a romantic extra; for some jobs it's the work. Photographing a shop properly means standing in it. Understanding a café's clientele means having eaten there. Knowing what a Suffolk high street expects from a tradesman, or what a lakeside restaurant in Lombardy needs from a booking page, is not something a video call delivers.
Saxmundham puts us in the middle of East Suffolk — market towns, trades, producers, B&Bs. Como puts us on the lake — hospitality, artisans, cross-border Swiss traffic. Two different small-business cultures, and we get to learn from both every week.
One standard, two markets
The two towns keep different habits, and the work has to respect that. A UK small business wants plain prices and a phone number that gets answered. An Italian business often needs the same site to work in two languages and two sets of customer expectations — and "bilingual" done properly means written pages, not a translation plugin toggling word-for-word.
There's also the corridor itself: Italian businesses that need a UK-facing presence, UK businesses with Italian operations or suppliers. It's a small market, but it's one where two real addresses beat a ".com" and a shrug.
How the work actually moves
Practically: the towns are one hour apart, so there's no timezone theatre. Briefs are written by default — writing forces clarity that calls let slide. Every project has one accountable lead, and the client always knows who that is. Whichever studio is closest to the job shows up when showing up helps; the rest moves asynchronously, which is why the reply-within-one-working-day promise holds regardless of where you are.
What it means for you
You can talk to us in English or Italian. Your site can be found by Google in one country or both, with the local basics done properly in each. And if your business ever crosses the channel — in either direction — you're working with a studio that lives on both sides of it. More about the people behind this on the studio page.
